FRESHMAN ADMISSIONS OVERVIEW

 

What are the Application Requirements?

  1. A completed State of Texas Common Application - Apply online at http://www.applytexas.org
  2. A nonrefundable $60.00 processing fee or fee waiver.
  3. An official transcript with class rank. Must have an original signature of a school official or an original school seal.
  4. Test Scores from new SAT or ACT with writing component. Scores should be sent directly from the testing agency. Either test is acceptable. SAT I code for Texas A&M - Code 6003 ACT code for Texas A&M - Code 4198
  5. Essay Topics A and B. (Mandatory)
  6. 2 letters of recommendation. (Optional)
  7. A permanent resident card. (If applicable)
  8. HB 1403 Affidavit. (If applicable)

What are the Ways You Can Be Admitted?

  1. Top 10%: Must be a resident of Texas
  2. Academic Admit: 1300 SAT (At least 600 in both Reading and Math) or 30 ACT (Minimum 27 in English and Math combined), Top quarter of class, Meet all Recommended Minimum Coursework, Application completed and submitted by deadline
  3. Review Admit: Complete application will be reviewed and a decision will be made by the Admission Selection Committee

What is the Recommended Minimum Coursework?

  • 4 years of College Preparatory English
  • 3.5 years of Mathematics (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and at least half a credit of advanced math)
  • 3 years of Science (two must come from Biology I, Chemistry I, or Physics I)
  • 2 years of the same foreign language
